Study in Sweden
Why Study in Sweden?
Sweden combines academic success, sustainability, innovation, and social inclusion, making it one of the top study abroad destinations. Sweden is a great option for Pakistani students who want to get a top-notch European degree because of its well known English-taught programs and innovative, student-focused learning settings. This process is made easier by DPS Overseas Education, which offers all-inclusive support, from choosing an appropriate course to managing visa applications and getting ready for travel.
Application Process
Universityadmissions.se centralises the application procedure for Swedish universities, making it easier for individuals from outside to apply. Each cycle, candidates can select from four master's programs or up to eight bachelor's degrees. Applications for the 2026 academic year are accepted from October 16 to January 15 submissions must be made by February 1. It costs 900 SEK to apply. Notifications of admission for bachelor's degrees are sent out on April 11 and for master's programs on March 21.
Required Documents and Language Requirements
Undergraduate or graduate transcripts that have been verified by HEC, validated matriculation and intermediate certificates (via IBCC), a valid passport (both sides in PDF), a resume, a declaration of purpose, and, if necessary, reference letters are among the necessary paperwork. Additionally, students must present proof of their English language competency. IELTS Academic (6.5 overall, with no band below 5.5), PTE (minimum score of 62 overall, 61 in writing), and TOEFL iBT are among the recognized tests.
Tuition Fee and Scholarships
The cost of tuition might range from 55,000 SEK to 80,500 SEK every semester, depending on the institution and curriculum. Despite the expense, Sweden provides a wide range of financial aid options. For exceptional students, the Swedish Institute offers complete scholarships that cover both tuition and living expenses. Early bird discounts and merit based scholarships are offered by universities like as BTH, Dalarna, and Linnaeus. After being admitted, candidates are urged to submit their scholarship applications as soon as possible.
Intake and Working While Studying
In Sweden, classes start in August or September and there is just one big intake during the fall semester. We welcome applications from October to January. Since there aren't many programs accessible in the spring, it is highly recommended to apply in the fall. In Sweden, international students are free to work as many hours as they choose, while balancing employment and study is encouraged. The monthly income of part time employees is typically between €900 and €1,200, which is enough to pay living expenses.
Post Study Opportunities and Residency
Students can apply for a one-year post study residency visa after graduation to look for work or launch a company. After finding a job, people can apply for a work based residency visa, which allows them to become permanent residents after four years of lawful stay. After five years, Swedish citizenship may be granted if the language and integration requirements are satisfied.
Financial Requirements for a Visa
Visa candidates need to be financially stable because the expected monthly cost of living is 9,450 SEK. A bank account should have a minimum balance of 122,850 SEK for a single academic year. For dependents, add 2,362.50 SEK per child and 3,937.50 SEK per spouse each month. These numbers must be backed up by a three month bank statement.
Visa Application Process
Following receipt of an admission letter, students must apply online for a study visa through the Swedish Migration Agency. A valid passport, evidence of entry, financial records, and civil records (if applying on a family member's behalf) are among the necessary paperwork. Spouses and students must pay 1,500 SEK for their visa, while children must pay 750 SEK. The closest Swedish embassy or consulate receives the biometrics.
